Assessors traditionally relied on AccuRate and BERS Pro to evaluate residential building performance. AccuRate offered high accuracy but required extensive, time-consuming data input, while BERS Pro was more visual but prone to errors and difficult to navigate.
Both tools required manual translation of 2D design drawings into software-specific formats, often duplicating data entry and increasing the risk of mistakes. Assessors reported frustration and inefficiency, noting that neither tool supported their workflow effectively.

Aridian was developed with CSIRO to combine scientific rigor with usability. It converts 2D design plans directly into 3D models, allowing users to visually validate their work before running simulations. This reduces errors, eliminates unnecessary conversion steps, and significantly cuts modelling time.
Shaped through co-design workshops with industry assessors, Aridian supports diverse workflows through integrated features: Construction Builder for reusable components, Build Mode for drawing floor plans with visual materials and instant 3D verification, Specifications Mode for mapping additional model elements, and Simulation Mode for performance analysis with visual outputs like star ratings and heating/cooling maps. The platform provides a seamless, efficient process that balances accuracy with ease of use.

While still in development, Aridian has received strong early feedback from assessors involved in testing. It is on track to substantially improve both the efficiency and accuracy of thermodynamic assessments—empowering assessors to work faster, with greater confidence and clarity.
